Something to Crow About!
September 11th and 12th

10-4:00 both Days!

Plans are underway for the 2nd Annual Country Fair sponsored by the Hermann Farm & Museum.

A visit by the Montgomery County Old Thresher's Association along with Percheron draft horses, Clydesdales hitched for carriage rides, a variety of vendors offering everything from jams and jellies to locally produced honey products and apple butter simmering over an open fire creates a family atmosphere that's hard to beat.

Food, music, literature, arts, folk crafts and farm land critters all help celebrate our rural heritage. Fun for all ages!

Now Open to Serve You!

Join us for our Berries and BarBQ Wine Trail, July 24-25.  We will be paring our 2007 Star Lane Sauvignon Blanc with Hula Brats (Pineapple Brats Skewered with Strawberries and Gooseberries).

Stainless steel lots bring vivid aromas of wild spring flowers, gooseberries and mandarin orange, while the wood lots contribute the rich lemon curd and grapefruit aromas that have been the hallmark of Star Lane Sauvignon Blanc.

Paring this vintage with the Hula Brats will bring out the tart flavors that they both share.  The combination of the two will give you that refreshing zing needed during the sweltering summer month of July.

We are located at 338 East First Street. Contact us at 1-573-486-1182 or visit us on-line!

DID YOU KNOW?

Hermann Festhalle - 237 E. First Street, Hermann, Missouri

The Inn at Hermannhof Festhalle was originally the site of an 1869 building destroyed by fire on July 29th, 1886.  The building was reconstructed in the latest Second Empire style to house the Monnig store; a hardware, mercantile, pharmacy and post office all in one, with the upper floors of the home of its prominent proprietor.  It was the first commercial building in Hermann to architecturally depart from the traditional models.  It is one of three significant buildings in the downtown historic district with a Mansard room and dormers.

The building was later made into a car dealership and in the mid 1980’s the building was converted to the Hermannhof Festhalle.

In 2007 a total restoration of the second and third floors was completed for the Inn at Hermannhof.  The first floor of the Hermannhof Festhalle is still the home to the finest Hermann festival activities and special events.  The second and third floors feature eight of the most breathtaking suites available in Missouri. Each are named after a historic Missouri Steamer.  The suites are furnished with carefully restored period pieces that have been collected over many years from the Hermann area.

Six historic working haus wineries joined the Inn at Hermannhof in 2007.  Each was from the Missouri region and they were purchased, moved and restored on East Hill across from the Festhalle. Each haus captures the character and appeal of the 1800's.  There are twenty one-of-a-kind luxurious suites on East Hill with sweeping views of the Missouri river and the Hermann historic district.

Whether you choose a suite at our Festhalle or on East Hill, we are confident you will enjoy the experience. We invite you to come stay with us at the Inn at Hermannhof

Begun in 1848 and completed in 1852, Hermannhof is a fine example of German architecture and craftsmanship designed to last for many generations.

Start with the underground cellars. Each and every cellar is designed with brick and stone arches at every pressure point, whether it’s the ceiling, doorways, or vents to prevent them from collapsing under the weight of the earth above.

These cellars are built over a natural spring source which greatly reduces wine evaporation through the barrels, not to mention the cool moderation of the cellar temperatures.

Part of our cellar floor is actually original oceanic bedrock as confirmed by geologists to be part of the Gulf of Mexico, which once covered our area.

As you look at the exterior of the Hermannhof winery, notice the locally made soft clay brick, hand-cut stone steps, and original kiln-fired lime mortar which today is still in great condition. The hand-formed raised seam roofs that were the norm back in the day, still hold up to the elements.

There aren't many examples of this kind of work left today, so take a moment to take it all in. Hermannhof Cellars are open daily for tours. www.hermannhof.com

Rhythm and Brews Festival

The third annual Rhythm and Brews Festival sponsored by Tin Mill Brewery was held again this year at the Hofgarten on Saturday, June 19th, one of the longest days of the year.

There was a great turnout from the micro-breweries throughout the state of Missouri and one from Kansas, with 15 breweries in attendance.

The music of "Pennsylvania Slim" was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd of 400 people that attended. All enjoyed dancing, tasting beer, eating the fine BBQ prepared by Hermannhof Winery and the beautiful weather.

It was our largest turnout of micro-breweries yet and the beer was great! Tin Mill looks forward to hosting the event once again next year with a larger crowd anticipated.

Thank you to all who may have attended and let us raise our glasses and toast to another great year to come!
