The largest Kristkindl Markt in Hermann’s history
will be held December 13th and 14th.
Hermann’s Kristkindl Markt was listed in German World magazine as one of the most authentic in North America. Many visitors who had attended markets in Germany declared the Hermann market is perfect for an old world holiday shopping experience.
Almost 50 exhibitors and vendors will display their wares and demonstrate old time crafts for holiday shoppers all weekend. Every German-American association, Verein and German club in Missouri received special invitations to this year’s Kristkindl and large crowds are expected. Many new exhibitors will join artisans who have been with the Kristkindl for a decade: hand woven shawls, silver and pewter ornaments, scherenschnitte, mittens, coats, goat’s milk soaps, baked goods, scarves, hand carved Santa’s, and more. A three piece band, the Ozark Hens will be playing in the Festhalle. These talented performers will offer beautiful holiday and festive music that is sure to create the Holiday spirit.
A variety of delicious delights will be available at the Celebration Hall at the Tin Mill Restaurant a creation of a menu sure to please. Visitors can dine in the old mill and enjoy sausages, kraut, potato salad and red cabbage. The Winemaker Paul LeRoy’s signature gluhwein will be available at the Mill.
This year we have expanded to include three great venues, the historic Hermannhof Festhalle, the Hermann Mill and the beautiful outdoor Hofgarten. All are located at the corner of First Street and Gutenberg in downtown Hermann. The ambiance of the Hermannhof’s location is the key to the Kristkindl’s overall success. The massive halle, overlooking the Missouri River, with boxwood garland draped beneath the wall stencils, all make the Festhalle the perfect Holiday location.
